What Can I Expect at My First Appointment?

Relax and take a deep breath… you are not alone! Most patients are anxious about this process in the beginning but try not to worry! Our patients are like family, and we will go to great lengths to make you feel at home and comfortable during this appointment. We will walk you through it every step of the way.

  1. We will gather a detailed case history. You will be asked about medical symptoms, family history, and daily communication struggles.

  2. Audiometric testing will be completed inside a sound-treated booth to quantify the type and degree of hearing loss you may have. (Remember, it may not be permanent hearing loss, which is one reason why the exam is so important.)

  3. We’ll counsel you on the results and treatment options. It’s a good idea to bring a close family member with you for this.

  4. Referrals to other specialists may be indicated based on results.
